Postmortem

So the first version of my small multiplayer prototype is out! Sneakernet.exe was created for an ideajam. During this jam I got most of the workings of the movement down made a small level that ultimately I only released to a few close people.
So for the 7D FPS in 2020, I took that existing codebase and added a small multiplayer style system to it. In the end, I feel like the amount of work done to the amount of effort put is far off the balance in that I feel I put in more effort. I feel like this is a simple game and yet it took me far too long and I still had a lot of unanswered questions.

What bogged me down?

The biggest one is that Godot doesn't feel production ready. Even now this game will have performance hitches in certain areas of this small map. It drives me crazy and was very noticeable in the last few days I spent on this project.
But it's a foolish man who blames solely his tool-set. I've not truly focused on this project and ended up pushing off working on it because it doesn't feel interesting enough, this could be worked on by adding more systems but it feels like I've still not gotten movement right and it's hard to move on from that.
